KLU Football Report

Best players: Josh Clayton, Michael Manteit, Tyler Roos, Blake Dodson, Lochie Eats, Jock MaddernThe Cougars started well against the Southern Roos gaining a 10 point advantage at the first break although our kicking was offline with 7 points. There was plenty of run and pressure all over the field. Tyler Roos was huge along with Hamish Bennett. Lochie Eats was moving well in defence and Blake Dodson was marshalling the defence. Corey Natt was busy and Jock Maddern was very solid along with Lachie Bates. It was a low scoring affair with Harrow Balmoral kicking in front late in second quarter for the first time and looked to be gaining momentum. A true conversion by Josh Clayton saw the Cougars ahead by 3 points at half time. Somehow the tug of war continued in the third. Nick Murphy and Patrick Munn was working hard in attack and Charlie Maddern and Jack Stimson were very productive. KLU were six points ahead at 3 quarter time. 46-40. The Cougars fired up in the last getting out to a 25 point margin at the 15 minute mark. Luke Bennett was fantastic as the game progressed and James Gurney Wellington snagged 2 in the last. Riley Vivian and Mat Hicks were great contributors along with Corey Greig. A fantastic effort by the Cougars and now they progress to the preliminary next weekend against Noradjuha- Quantong.
