In the final of the pairs it saw reigning champions Ivan Reichelt/Ray Olney play first time finalists Shaun McDonald/Ryder Byrnes. The Reichelt/Olney combination commenced smartly in the final and soon set up a 12-5 lead only to see that lead diminish to only one shot (13-12) with two ends to be played. However, the reigning champions obtained five shots on the second last end and went on to win the championship with a final score of 18-14. It was the fourth time that the Reichelt/Olney combination had won the pairs championship together. It was Ray’s twelfth pairs championship played with six different partners in his bowls career and Ivan’s sixth championship with three different partners. Congratulations to the winners and well done to the McDonald/Byrnes team on making the final for the first time.
